Bartlett’s Ocean View Farm on Nantucket is seeking a seasonal Cheesemonger (mid/late May to Sept 2027). The role combines kitchen production work with market cheese inventory management, following Farm policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include cutting, wrapping, weighing and labeling cheese for display, packaging olives and nuts, maintaining a clean workstation with proper knife handling, coordinating with receiving, and assisting customers with recommendations.

• Must be physically fit and able to stand and lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

• Cuts, wraps, weighs, and labels cheese for display; packs other bulk items (olives, nuts, herb salt).
• Maintains a clean workstation; familiar with knives and proper kitchen sanitation.
• Works with receiving to check in cheese and store per temperature and expiry date.
• Learns cheese varieties to share information with customers and make recommendations.
• Creates prep lists and daily priorities to keep up with demand.
• Maintains and stocks product displays; ensures proper rotation, labeling, and cleanliness.
• Communicates with the Wine & Cheese Manager or Store Manager when product is low.

Position: Cheesemonger

The Cheesemonger position is a seasonal position responsible for both production in the kitchen and maintaining inventory of the cheese product in the market within established Farm policies, strategies, and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of customer service and responsiveness to the needs of individuals, families, businesses, and organizations served by the Farm.

• Responsible for cutting, wrapping, weighing and accurately labeling cheese for display in the cheese case as well as packaging other bulk items such as olives, nuts, herb salt, etc. Responsible for maintaining a clean work station and must have a familiarity with knives and proper kitchen sanitation.
• Works with receiving department to check in the cheese product and ensure it is properly stored according to temperature and expiration date.
• Must be willing to sample and learn about cheese varieties in order to share information with customers and make product recommendations.
• Create prep lists and determine daily priorities to keep up with demand.
• May be responsible for maintaining and stocking product displays. Ensures products are properly rotated, organized, stocked, labeled and clean.
• Communicates with the Wine & Cheese Manager or Store manager when product is low.
