Job summary

Glanbia in Twin Falls, Idaho, is seeking a food science professional to lead cheese product development and research initiatives on site. The role involves coordinating commercialization trials, collaborating with universities and vendors, and supervising CIC projects to drive innovation and market leadership.

You will prepare detailed reports, analyze lab results, and support Sales/Marketing with technical insights and labeling guidance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in food science or dairy science with 3 years of dairy & cheese product development experience or a Bachelor of Science with 5–7 years of experience.
• Experience with pilot plant operations and management.
• Experience in analytical or microbiological lab work and developing testing methods.
• Familiarity with vendors providing ingredients and processing equipment for food processing.
• Statistical design of experiments and ability to manage multiple projects in a lab and pilot plant environment.
• Demonstrated dairy processing experience and pilot plant research.
• Strong presentation and scientific writing skills.
• Ability to stay current with cheese production technologies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute commercialization trials in production plant facilities.
• Work with universities, vendors, and customers to develop new products, processes and applications related to natural cheese production.
• Develop, coordinate and supervise research projects in the Cheese Innovation Center (CIC).
• Develop and apply new theories to Glanbia products/processes, applications to create advanced, innovative new products and processes that drive competitive advantage and market leadership for Glanbia.
• Prepare reports concerning the results of laboratory tests or product development trials including next steps and impact on key business initiatives.
• Collect, read, compile, utilize and synthesize ideas and methods from existing literature, experts, files and publications.
• Ability to work with Sales and Marketing to provide technical assistance for product development and support marketing platforms or products.
• Ability to work with key equipment vendors and co-manufacturers to develop new technologies that will enhance product performance or process efficiencies.
• Provide technical information to quality assurance and sales by providing accurate information related to cheese nutrition and associated labelling guidelines.
• Utilize Glanbia processes for continuous improvement, driving zero losses, and uphold the culture of Glanbia non‑negotiables.

The Skills you will bring to the team

• Masters degree in food science, dairy science or related field, with 3 years of dairy & cheese product development or R&D experience, or a Bachelor of Science with 5‑7 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with pilot plant operations and management.
• Experience working in an analytical and or microbiological lab, including developing testing methods.
• Familiarity with key vendors who provide functional ingredients and processing equipment used within the food processing industry.
• Statistical experimental design. Ability to design and efficiently execute multiple projects in a research and pilot plant environment.
• Demonstrated experience with dairy processing and a pilot plant research.
• Developed presentation and scientific writing skills.
• Ability to keep abreast of advancing technologies related to cheese production.
