Job summary

Glanbia Nutritionals, Inc. is seeking a sanitation lead at our St. Johns, MI facility to manage sanitation shifts and ensure compliance with cleaning schedules and GMP standards.

You will perform chemical checks, PPE protocols, and coordinate with Quality for validation on product contact surfaces. Strong leadership, problem solving, and teamwork are essential. The role requires knowledge of CIP systems, titration testing, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced dairy production

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and delegate assignments to others.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources

Responsibilities

  • Oversee sanitation shifts operation; supported by Shift Production Manager.
  • Ensure adherence to sanitation schedule.
  • Complete periodic equipment and infrastructural cleaning.
  • Perform chemical checks and record data in the computer.
  • Coordinate with Quality for verification & validation on product contact surfaces prior to starting operations.
  • Understand and apply PPE requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of chemicals used in the cheese plant and CIP circuits.
  • Monitor CIP to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform titration testing on chemicals and foot foamer solutions.
  • Disassemble tank vents and clean with acid as required.
  • Clean around CIP tank manholes, doors and gaskets.
  • Inspect tanks and platform for leaks; inspect for odors.
  • Identify soiled CIP tanks and perform tank dumps.
  • CIP supply tanks as needed; identify leaks and begin corrective actions.
  • Maintain respirator training and certification; ensure sanitation tasks are performed safely.
  • Replenish Enforse and acid; foam areas around foot foamer units.
  • Refill hand sanitizers; sterilize culture freezers and culture room areas.
  • Inspect CIP centers for leaks at pumps and valves; clean pump room floors and drains.
  • Foam floors of CIP rooms and maintain cleanliness of floors.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (SQF, FDA, PMO).
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary
  • Ensure that all environmental cleaning assigned to positionsiscompleted.
Essential Functions
  • Responsiblefor the total operation of thesanitationshifts. Supported by Shift Production Manager
  • Ensures adherence to sanitationschedule
  • Ensures completion of periodic equipment and infrastructural cleaning
  • Responsible for completed chemical checks and ensuring that the information is recorded in the computer
  • Coordinate with Quality to provide verification & validation on product contact surfaces prior to starting operations
  • Understands the use and importance of PPE
  • Working knowledge ofeach chemical used in the cheese plantincluding how to use and when to use
  • Working knowledge ofall CIP circuits and what is washedbyeachcircuit
  • MonitorsCIP to ensure proper operation
  • Able to perform Titration testingon all chemicals used in Cheese plant cleaning activities asdeterminedby the chemical supplier
  • Able to perform Titration testing on footfoamers
  • Ability to disassemble tank vents and clean with acid
  • Cleans around CIP tankmanholeopenings, the inside ofthe door and door gasket
  • Cleans outside of tanks andplatform and inspects for leaks
  • Identifiessoiled CIPtanks and performs a tank dump

  • Each employee shallcomply withoccupational safety and healthstandardsand all rules, regulations, and orders issuedpursuant tothe Occupational Safety andHealth Act,whichare applicableto his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies withall applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
