Job summary

Gossner Foods is seeking a Packaging Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair packaging equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and identify issues to prevent downtime. The role supports safe, reliable operations and may involve welding, fabrication, and basic PLC/robot programming tasks.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, work well independently, and possess experience with industrial or food-processing equipment.

Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining or repairing packaging equipment preferred.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Ability to read & understand equipment electrical schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and capable of completing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Basic understanding of PLC programming preferred.
  • Knowledge of robotic programming preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain packaging machinery.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance according to established checklists and procedures.
  • Conduct routine visual inspections of packaging equipment.
  • Assist with equipment installations, modifications, upgrades, and improvement projects.
  • Perform welding and fabrication work when qualified and needed.
  • Perform other maintenance and facility-related duties as assigned.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, GMPs, and food-safety policies.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, reach, and work in confined or elevated areas as required.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.

Day Shift Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Some Fridays may be required, and hours may vary.
