Job Summary

Head Coach for the AU Cheer Team. This position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the cheer team, including organizing and leading practices, developing and teaching choreography, coordinating fundraising efforts, and fostering community engagement. The Head Coach will also be expected to mentor student-athletes, promote team unity, and ensure the team represents Augusta University positively at events and performances.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

TEAM MANAGEMENT:

  • Direct all phases of the cheer team program.
  • Coach at practices and games.
  • Recruit qualified student-athletes.
  • Coordinate community appearances.
  • Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes.

BUDGET:

  • Manage the cheerleading program¿s budget.
  • Allocate funds for equipment and uniforms.

EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT:

  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of cheerleading equipment and uniforms.

COMPLIANCE:

  • Know, recognize, and comply with laws, rules, and regulations governing Augusta University and its employees.
  • Comply with NCAA and affiliated conference rules and regulations.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:

  • Assist with game management at home athletic contests.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

At least one year experience incoaching cheer at the collegiate level.

CPR certification must be completed within two months of hire.

AACCA (American Association of
Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors) Certified.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of NCAA and UCA/NCAA rules and regulations.

ABILITIES

Coordination, training, and supervision of the cheerleading team activities on campus and in the community on behalf of Athletics.

Fully comply with institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Band: B1

Salary: Minimum: $15.00/hourly

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
