Job summary

Schnuck Markets, Inc. seeks a checker to deliver friendly, efficient service at the register while handling diverse payment methods and coupons. You’ll greet customers, process purchases, protect cash accuracy, and bag orders in a fast-paced environment.

Training is provided at store level. The role requires consistent attendance, knowledge of produce items, and adherence to company policies; internal candidates have preferred consideration and manager approval for interviews.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred for Store Teammates.
• Minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred for Store Support Center Teammates.
• Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline).
• If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
• Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Greet customers prior to checking their order
• Check out customer’s purchases accurately
• Identify and know produce items and be able to properly use produce and product codes
• Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons
• Process manufacturer coupons
• Collect correct amount due from customer
• Use proper procedure of accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers and other payment options
• Complete register record accurately
• Practice and maintain cash security
• Bag customer orders
• Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes
• Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management
