Job summary

Schnucks in Rockford, IL is seeking a checker to join our team. You will greet customers, handle purchases at the register, accept various payment methods, apply coupons, and ensure accurate cash handling and record-keeping.

Training is provided at store level. This role requires reliable attendance, friendliness, and adherence to store policies. Physical duties include lifting up to 25 pounds and standing for shifts.

Qualifications

• Training will be provided at store level.
• Internal Candidates: Store/Facility Teammates: minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred.
• Store Support Center Teammates: minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred.
• Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline).
• If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
• Greet customers prior to checking their order
• Check out customer’s purchases accurately
• Identify and know produce items and be able to properly use produce and product codes
• Distinguish between manufacturer coupons and Schnucks coupons
• Process manufacturer coupons
• Collect correct amount due from customer
• Use proper procedure of accepting cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, EBT cards, WIC vouchers and other payment options
• Complete register record accurately
• Practice and maintain cash security
• Bag customer orders
• Change register receipt and coupon machine tapes
• Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of store management
