Job description

The University of Jamestown is seeking a reliable and professional Part‑Time Charter Bus Driver to join our team. This is a 12‑month position of 20 hours per week. This role involves operating charter buses for group events, tours, corporate outings, and other special trips. The ideal candidate is safety‑focused, customer‑oriented, and experienced in driving large vehicles, with a passion for providing excellent service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate university vehicles as needed, including buses, vans, and trucks. Ensure safe and efficient transportation of students, staff, and equipment to and from various locations.
  • Assist with routine maintenance and inspection of university vehicles. Coordinate with maintenance staff or external vendors to ensure timely repairs and upkeep.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records related to vehicle maintenance, driver logs, and compliance documentation. Prepare and submit reports on transportation activities, safety incidents, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with implementation and enforcement of safety protocols to minimize risks and ensure the safety of passengers and drivers. Conduct safety drills and respond to accidents or incidents as necessary.
  • Provide excellent customer service to university stakeholders, including students, staff, and faculty. Address any transportation‑related concerns or issues in a professional and timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in transportation management or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in transportation management, commercial driving, and DOT compliance. Experience in a university or institutional setting preferred.
  • In‑depth knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
  • Effective organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certifications: Valid CDL with appropriate endorsements; DOT compliance certification or training is preferred.
