$30.00/hr - $35.00/hr

Cape Cod Maritime Museum, located in Hyannis, Massachusetts, United States, is dedicated to preserving the rich maritime traditions and history for which Cape Cod and the Islands are known. The museum enables audiences of all ages to understand and enjoy maritime culture through exhibitions, collections, public events, and educational programs.

Role Description

The Cape Cod Maritime Museum is seeking a Charter Boat Captain to operate SARAH, an 18’ wooden replica of an 1886 Crosby catboat, for scenic and historic cruises in Hyannis Harbor, Lewis Bay, and Nantucket Sound.

Responsibilities:

  1. Operate SARAH safely for 1.5-hour charter cruises.
  2. Serve as an ambassador for the Museum, engaging with passengers and sharing maritime history.
  3. Maintain the vessel, ensuring cleanliness and proper upkeep.
  4. Communicate with museum staff regarding scheduled sails.

Qualifications

  1. USCG OUPV (“Six-Pack”) License required (Sailing Endorsement preferred or extensive sailing experience).
  2. Strong seamanship skills and experience handling small sailing vessels.
  3. Friendly and professional demeanor with excellent communication skills.
  4. Attention to detail and safety-consciousness.
  5. Ability to work well under pressure and handle emergencies.
  6. Experience in maritime tourism is a plus.

Schedule

  1. Mid-June through Columbus Day.
  2. As needed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 11 AM, 1 PM, 3 PM, and 5 PM.
