Job Description

General Purpose of Job: Greets and registers patients for Urgent Care services. Duties include obtaining and verifying patient’s demographic, medical, and insurance information, data entry into the electronic medical record, and ensuring completion of required documentation. Provides administrative and clinical assistance to physicians/APPs.

Essential Duties

1. Greet and register patients, verify information, and complete documentation.
2. Review documentation for accuracy, contact others to resolve errors.
3. Check out patients, collect payments, and complete paperwork.
4. Use typing and computer skills to create and maintain records.
5. Communicate courteously with patients, families, and staff.
6. Prepare patients for examination, take vital signs, medical history, and assist with procedures.
7. Complete documentation timely and accurately, demonstrating knowledge of medical terminology.
8. Triages patients, manages referrals, prescriptions, and emergency notifications.
9. Contact patients for test results, medication updates, etc.
10. Maintain exam rooms, restock supplies, and ensure equipment safety.
11. Transport patients and assist in transfers as needed.
12. Adhere to hospital policies, mission, and values.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

General Requirements

• CPR/BCLS certification

Work Experience

• No prior experience required

Education

• Completion of Medical Assistant program, Armed Forces medic program, or 6 months documented Medical Assistant experience in a similar setting.

Skills and Knowledge

• Knowledge of healthcare standards, HIPAA, and hospital policies.
• Strong communication and typing skills.
• Ability to work under stress, handle emotional situations, and assist with procedures.
