Job summary

HCA Florida Brandon Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator to lead nursing care and unit operations during the shift. You will collaborate with the management team to direct, monitor, and evaluate standards of care while serving as a resource for staff and upholding the organization’s mission and values.

This role emphasizes admission/discharge efficiency, quality assessment, and teamwork to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse or compact license with FL RN active within 60 days of hire.
  • Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
  • Minimum one year Emergency Room RN experience required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • PALS and/or ENPC certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • NIHSS and TNCC certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • CPI training required within 6 months grace period of hire date.
  • National Board Certification (CEN or CPEN) highly preferred.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills.

  • Participates in ongoing assessment of care quality in the unit with management.
  • Collaborates with managers to create teamwork for improved outcomes and service.
  • Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
  • Operationalizes nursing strategies like hourly rounds and employee rounding to improve engagement.
  • Provides recommendations on interviewing, selecting, and training staff; supports performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Assists with staff scheduling and labor management based on patient care needs and productivity guidelines.
  • Supports inventory control and helps manage supplies and equipment.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

What you will do in this role:
  • Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
  • Participates in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.
  • Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
  • Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by operationalizing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives.
  • Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommends and implements courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations, and/or disciplinary actions to ensure a competitively better organization.
  • Assists with staff scheduling. Manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
  • Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire.
  • Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
  • Minimum one year Emergency Room RN experience required.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and/or ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • Current NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) and TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training required - New hire must obtain within 6 month grace period of hire date. Transferring employees must obtain within 6 month grace period.
  • National Board Certification (CEN or CPEN) highly preferred.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
