Job summary

Northern Montana Hospital (NMH) is seeking a Charge Registered Nurse for the Med/Surg/Peds unit. The role focuses on assessing and coordinating safe, patient-centered care before and after surgery, during recovery, and swing bed stays.

You will mentor colleagues, ensure adherence to care plans, and respond to urgent needs. RN license in Montana is required; BLS is mandatory with ACLS/PALS optional.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Licensed RN by the Montana State Board of Nursing.
• One year Med/Surg experience preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS certification optional.

Responsibilities

• Assess, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient-centered care on the Med/Surg/Peds unit.
• Mentor and support staff to promote professional growth.
• Coordinate care before/after surgery and during swing bed hospital stays.
• Ensure safe and effective delivery of care per hospital policies.

About the role

An Acute Care Medical/Surgical/Pediatric Unit (Med/Surg/Peds) Charge Registered Nurse is a self-motivated professional who acts as a support and resource person in the care of patients before or after surgery, during recovery, during acute illness, and during swing bed hospital stays. They are responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, delegation, and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient-centered care. The charge nurse will facilitate and mentor others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills. The charge nurse functions in structured care settings described as geographic and/or situational environments where the policies and procedures for provision of health care are established. The Charge Nurse has acquired or will acquire knowledge and develop proficiency in caring for individuals on the Medical/Surgical/Pediatric unit and relative to the ages of patients served.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing .
• Registered nurse currently licensed to practice professional nursing by the Montana State Board of Nursing.
• One year of Med/Surg experience is preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS Certification optional.

Salary is commensurate with up to 15 years of experience.
