Job summary

Northern Montana Hospital in Havre, Montana, is seeking a Charge Registered Nurse for the Acute Care Medical/Surgical/Pediatric Unit to lead, coordinate, and evaluate patient care before and after surgery, during recovery, and during swing bed stays.

The role requires graduation from an accredited nursing program, Montana RN licensure, and Med/Surg experience; BLS is required, ACLS/PALS optional. The Charge Nurse mentors others and supports safe, patient-centered care in a busy rural hospital.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered nurse currently licensed to practice professional nursing by the Montana State Board of Nursing.
  • One year of Med/Surg experience is preferred.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS Certification optional.
  • Salary is commensurate with up to 15 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate, and evaluate patient care on the Medical/Surgical/Pediatric unit.
  • Coordinate care, delegation, and evaluation of delivery of safe, effective patient-centered care.
  • Mentor and support other nurses to grow professionally and improve unit performance.
  • Provide leadership in structured care settings and ensure adherence to hospital policies.

Charge Registered Nurse

An Acute Care Medical/Surgical/Pediatric Unit (Med/Surg/Peds) Charge Registered Nurse is a self-motivated professional who acts as a support and resource person in the care of patients before or after surgery, during recovery, during acute illness, and during swing bed hospital stays. They are responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, delegation, and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient-centered care. The charge nurse will facilitate and mentor others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills. The charge nurse functions in structured care settings described as geographic and/or situational environments where the policies and procedures for provision of health care are established. The Charge Nurse has acquired or will acquire knowledge and develop proficiency in caring for individuals on the Medical/Surgical/Pediatric unit and relative to the ages of patients served.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered nurse currently licensed to practice professional nursing by the Montana State Board of Nursing.
