Job summary

Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC, is seeking a Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Telemetry team on 12-hour night shifts. This role focuses on direct patient care, supervision of staff, and contributing to high-quality cardiac and telemetry services.

The position requires an active NC RN license with BLS, ACLS/PALS within six months, and 2–3 years telemetry experience; bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license or compact required.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
• 2–3 years telemetry experience required.
• Charge experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process.
• Supervise nursing and support staff during shifts.
• Perform accurate patient assessments and identify needs.
• Initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provide age-appropriate care.
• Document medical necessity in the patient record.
• Develop and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Conduct timely QI assessments.

The Telemetry team at Frye Regional Medical Center offers a supportive, team-oriented culture where nurses collaborate closely to provide exceptional cardiac and telemetry care. The 21- Bed unit features self-scheduling, 12-hour shifts, and every-other-weekend rotation, helping promote flexibility and work-life balance. Nurses gain valuable experience caring for a diverse patient population while working alongside experienced leaders and a strong interdisciplinary team.

How you'll contribute

A Charge Registered Nurse (RN)who excels in this role:

• Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Supervises nursing and support staff during assigned shifts and ensures safe, quality care.
• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state RN license. Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Additional requirements include:

• Active North Carolina RN license (single-state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• 2-3 years of Telemetry experience required.
• Charge experience preferred.
