Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Charge Nurse to lead daily operations in the University Hospital unit. This role supports the Clinical Manager, coordinates staff scheduling and patient flow, and mentors nursing staff to uphold high care standards.

The Charge Nurse drives quality improvement and fosters a compassionate, responsive patient environment while aligning with Magnet-designation efforts and organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Active Kentucky RN license or compact license with Kentucky privileges.
• BLS certification required by AHA.
• BSN preferred; ADN required with clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and monitor staffing and resources within the unit budget.
• Coordinate preceptor and nurse assignments according to acuity.
• Serve as a role model, mentor staff, and support performance evaluations.
• Lead service excellence initiatives and participate in quality improvement.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain unit-level documentation.
