Job summary

Kansas Health System is seeking a Unit Coordinator (Charge Nurse) for the Inpatient Internal Medicine unit at Bell Hospital. This full-time role covers day and night shifts, guiding throughput, assignments and staff development.

You will collaborate with the Nurse Manager and HR on performance management, ensure standards are followed, and mentor staff toward excellence in clinical practice and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• BSN degree required by hire date for Southwest KC market.
• ADN nurses hired before 11/1/2025 must enroll in a BSN within 6 months and complete by the third anniversary.
• 2+ years of clinical experience.
• BLS certification required; multi-state RN license with NCL within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide charge nurse responsibilities including assignments and throughput management.
• Manage a patient care assignment per patient care needs.
• Assist with hiring, education and performance evaluation of staff.
• Collaborate with the Nurse Manager and HR on performance counseling and discipline.
• Instruct staff and monitor standards through ongoing performance management.
• Mentor staff for excellence in clinical practice and patient satisfaction.
• Ensure productivity targets and budget compliance.
• Lead unit performance improvement activities and outcomes.
• Verify competencies of the assigned unit/department.
