Baptist Health in Corbin, KY is seeking a Charge Nurse for the Surgical Services unit on the 1st shift. The role leads daily operations, coordinates patient flow, staffing, room turnover and ensures perioperative care aligns with standards.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate degree in Nursing with KY RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS/PALS. Prior supervisory experience and CNOR certification are preferred; on-call duties apply.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing with current Kentucky RN licensure.
• BLS within 30 days; ACLS and PALS within 90 days.
• Glucometer Training and Nurse Wound Care within 30 days.
• CNOR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and clinical oversight for Surgical Services staff and daily operations.
• Coordinates patient flow, staffing assignments, room turnovers, scheduling, supplies, and surgical readiness.
• Delivers and oversees safe, evidence-based perioperative patient care in accordance with AORN standards and hospital policies.
• Supports staff orientation, education, competency development, performance feedback, and policy/procedure updates.
• Monitors quality, safety, documentation, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement activities.
• Serves as a liaison and clinical resource for nursing staff, physicians, ancillary departments, and Pre-op/PACU teams.

Job Description:Charge NurseFull-Time I 1st ShiftBHCOR-Surgical Services I Corbin, KY

Surgical Services consists of 10 OR's. The OR and PACU provide care 24 hours a day, with on-call personnel from 2:30PM to 7:00AM, and weekends for patients of all ages who require emergency and elective surgical procedures.The Surgery Lead RN is responsible for coordinating the daily activities of the Surgery unit. The Surgery Charge RN works closely with the Preop/PACU to ensure patient flow efficiencies. Also, as a Registered Nurse, implements the nursing process for each patient assigned to his/her care.

Minimum Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing with current Kentucky RN licensure
• Minimum 1 year of job-related experience
• BLS within 30 days; ACLS and PALS within 90 days
• Glucometer Training upon hire; Aegis Training per identified needs; Nurse Wound Care within 30 days

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree
• Previous supervisory experience and CNOR certification
