The RN provides perioperative care, preoperative assessments, and discharge planning in a fast-paced setting, collaborating with surgeons and anesthesia to ensure patient safety and education throughout the perioperative process.

The role requires an Associate degree in Nursing, KY RN license, and BLS; ACLS/PALS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Kentucky
• 1 year RN experience required; PACU/CCU/Preop/Discharge experience preferred
• BLS required within 30 days of hire
• ACLS and PALS required within 90 days of hire
• Glucometer, Aegis, and Nurse Wound Care training required per department guidelines

Registered Nurse Preop/Discharge

Full-Time | 1st Shift

BHCOR-Outpatient Recover ICorbin, KY

The Outpatient Recovery Unit provides specialized care for patients recovering from surgical and procedural interventions performed on an outpatient basis. Working closely with the Pre‑Operative (Pre-Op) Surgery Unit, the team ensures patients safely recover from anesthesia and procedures while receiving individualized care, monitoring, education, and discharge support.

The Preop/Discharge RN provides care for preoperative and Phase II postoperative patients, performing assessments, developing and implementing individualized plans of care, and delivering patient and family education. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment while working in both the preoperative and discharge areas. The nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high‑quality patient care, maintain accurate documentation, supports quality improvement initiatives, and upholds departmental, regulatory, and patient safety standards.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited school required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Kentucky required.
• One year of RN experience required; PACU, Critical Care/ER, and Preop/Discharge experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 90 days of hire.
• Glucometer, Aegis, and Nurse Wound Care training required per department and organizational guidelines.
