Qualifications

• Experience in clinical leadership and staff supervision is expected.

Responsibilities

• Supports, prioritizes and supervises patient care and unit needs during assigned shift.
• Acts as designee for unit matters in nurse manager/director absence.
• Makes staff assignments to meet patient care needs.
• Delegates unit tasks to ensure patient care and unit needs are met.
• Monitors staffing mix, patient volumes and acuity for appropriate coverage.
• Communicates effectively with team members and others on shift.
• Drives quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Mentors staff through preceptor training and role modelling.
• Partners with nurse manager/director on quality projects and evaluations.
• Responds to issues requiring immediate resolution and informs leadership.
