Carondelet St. Marys Hospital in Tucson, AZ, seeks a Charge Nurse to support the nurse manager in coordinating patient care, unit activities and staff performance on an assigned shift.

The role emphasizes clinical leadership, mentoring, and adherence to nursing standards to ensure safe, high-quality care. Responsibilities include staff assignments, monitoring unit needs, and participating in quality projects, with a focus on effective communication and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Minimum 1 year RN clinical experience.
• Valid current Arizona Nursing License.
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• CPI
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) or other department requirements.
• BSN preferred.

Responsabilités

• Supports, evaluates, prioritizes and supervises patient care and unit needs during assigned shift.
• Serves as designee for unit matters in nurse manager/director absence.
• Makes assignments for staff to meet patient care needs and for incoming patients.
• Monitors effectiveness and completion of unit assignments.
• Evaluates staffing by considering caregiver mix, patient volumes, acuity and staff availability.
• Provides leadership in performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Acts as a role model and mentor for staff development and care delivery.
