Job summary

Central Texas Rehabilitation Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a Rehabilitation Charge Nurse in Austin, TX. You will lead nursing staff in delivering safe, high-quality care and mentor others while maintaining strong documentation and compliance.

The role emphasizes clinical leadership, staff education, and coordination of patient-centered care, with opportunities to influence CQPI initiatives and improve outcomes for medically complex

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited BSN, ADN or Nursing Diploma program.
  • Current state RN licensure.
  • CPR/BCLS certification. Child and Adult Abuse Certification required. ACLS preferred. CRRN preferred.
  • Minimum of two years in rehabilitation or acute care with leadership experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership and commitment to nursing excellence.
  • Experience in clinical teaching and quality improvement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support nursing staff in delivery of high-quality, safe patient care.
  • Provide clinical mentorship and coordination of staff assignments based on patient needs.
  • Oversee documentation accuracy in Cerner and UDS for compliance.
  • Identify educational needs and provide remediation for nursing staff on documentation.
  • Coordinate CQPI efforts to improve care outcomes and reduce readmissions.
  • Assist with staffing decisions based on patient acuity and staff competency.

How you'll contribute

As an employee of CTRH you will join a team that embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for the delivery of patient care. You will work with a team committed to ensure patients receive optimal medical attention and support. As Rehabilitation Charge Nurse you will be leading and supporting nursing staff in the delivery of high-quality, safe, and compliant patient care. This role includes clinical mentorship, documentation oversight, and coordination of staff assignments based on patient needs.

  • Complete routine audits to ensure accurate and timely documentation in Cerner and UDS for compliance.
  • Identify and address educational needs among nursing staff based on clinical practice and feedback.
  • Educate and monitor staff on proper QI documentation to reflect accurate burden of care.
  • Serve as a clinical mentor and resource for nursing staff caring for medically complex patients.
  • Support patient and family education and coordinate resources to reduce hospital readmissions.
  • Provide UDS documentation/orientation training for newly hired licensed nurses.
  • Conduct remediation sessions for nurses with documentation deficiencies.
  • Participate actively in Continuous Quality and Performance Improvement (CQPI) efforts.
  • Ensure the nursing team delivers care that maximizes patient safety and meets all care standards.
  • Assist with nursing staff assignments based on patient acuity and staff competency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications And Requirements
