Position Summary:

The Med/Surg unit provides direct care to critically ill adult patients using the nursing process, in accordance with applicable standards and organizational policies. This role provides nursing leadership for the Med/Surg unit.

• Supervises and mentors nursing/support staff during shifts.
• Determines staffing and assignments based on availability, abilities, census, patient acuity, and flow.
• Provides direct patient care as needed.
• Floats to assist staff and may take patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
• Evaluates patient care effectiveness and addresses issues impacting outcomes.
• Responds to care-related complaints through established channels.
• Performs duties such as entering orders, admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies.
• Integrates evidence-based practices and fosters professional growth environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• Associate's degree required
• Bachelor's degree preferred

Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• ACLS & PALS within 6 months of hire

License:

• Registered Nurse licensed in Kentucky
