OPCO Skilled Management is seeking a Charge Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced clinical setting. The role requires an active RN or LPN license and the ability to understand and follow verbal or written instructions in English.

You will plan, organize, and direct nursing functions, assign tasks, monitor patient care, and ensure infection-control standards are followed. Strong interpersonal skills and reliability are essential.

  • Plans, organizes, and directs nursing functions of patients in the unit.
  • Makes nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees.
  • Maintains acceptable standards of patient care.
  • Identifies problems and guides personnel to their solution.
  • Creates a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnel.
  • Implements physicians' orders accurately and promptly.
  • Supports infection-control policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality and a professional approach.
  • Cooperates with nursing staff, medical staff, and other departments.
  • Obtains and documents nursing history comprehensively.
  • Performs basic patient assessment with anatomy/physiology knowledge.
  • Records vital signs and notes changes.
  • Assesses for changes in condition and notifies appropriate parties.
  • Develops care plans before end of duty time for incoming staff.
  • Follows standards, policies, and procedures in nursing care.
  • Accepts accountability for clinical care of assigned patients.
  • Communicates with patient and family and health care team to achieve care plan goals.
  • Promotes positive public relations with patients, families, and guests.
  • Uses tactful communication in sensitive situations.
  • Maintains appropriate workplace behavior and dress code.

About Charge Nurse

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have a current RN/ LPN license
  • Ability to understand, remember and carry out verbal or written instructions in English
  • Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Ability to be flexible and positive with intermittent interruptions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • To assure resident safety.
  • Provides the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients in the unit
  • Makes nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees
  • Maintains acceptable standards of patient care
  • Identifies problems and guides personnel to their solution
  • Creates a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnel
  • Accurately and promptly implements physicians' orders
  • Supports and enforces infection-control policies and procedures
  • Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality
  • Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors
  • Obtains and documents nursing history from the patient and/or significant other that is comprehensive of present condition and prior problems
  • Performs basic assessment of the patient, indicating adequate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology
  • Records vital signs, notes changes, and pursues more-specific investigation as needed
  • Assesses for and notifies physician and other appropriate parties of changes in condition
  • Uses assessment information to develop a care plan before the end of duty time that communicates enough information for incoming personnel to adequately care for the patient
  • Uses care plans as a basis for providing safe and therapeutic care to patients
  • Consistently follows established standards, policies, and procedures in providing nursing care
  • Accepts accountability for clinical care of assigned patients, including supervision of nonprofessional personnel
  • Communicates with the patient and his or her family and other members of the health care team in carrying out the goals of the care plan
  • Promotes positive public relations with patients, residents, family members and guests
  • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
  • Use appropriate work place behavior and adhere to dress code at all times
