Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a Charge Nurse (RN) at Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown, DE. This is a full-time/part-time position with supervision of one shift, delivering quality care in a correctional setting, and ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.

The role requires an accredited nursing degree, active RN license in Delaware, CPR certification, and knowledge of state practice laws.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
Active CPR certification.
Knowledge of state laws and regulations governing practice.
Completion of initial and annual clinical competencies.

Responsibilities

Directly supervises one shift with 24-hour responsibility.
Participates in recruitment and orientation of new nursing personnel.
Develops and implements policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the Health Care Unit; collaborates with the Director of Nursing.
Schedules evaluation conferences and participates in performance evaluations.
Collaborates with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to develop and review health care.
Supervises preparation of nursing records and treatment documentation.
Plans and supervises implementation of nursing care techniques.
Oversees emergency medical care per facility policies.
Maintains liaison with Health Services Administrator to improve care delivery.
Ensures medication, supplies, and equipment security.
