Job summary

Maine Veterans Homes seeks a compassionate Charge Nurse (RN) to oversee daily clinical operations in our Long-Term Care Village, Eagles Landing. You will lead nursing staff, coordinate care activities, and ensure high-quality, resident-centered care.

The role requires an active RN license in Maine, teamwork, strong communication, and adherence to regulatory standards. Shift is 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., 36 hours weekly, every other weekend, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in Maine
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Ability to work harmoniously and professionally with coworkers, residents, families, and supervisors
• Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to residents in accordance with care plans and policies
• Supervise and support CNAs and other nursing staff on assigned shift
• Coordinate and delegate assignments to ensure appropriate staffing and workload distribution
• Monitor resident conditions and respond promptly to changes in status
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered
• Communicate effectively with providers, families, and interdisciplinary team members
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of care and services provided
• Promote a safe environment by adhering to infection control and safety protocols
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and care transitions
• Address concerns, incidents, and emergencies in a timely and professional manner
• Support compliance with state and federal regulations and organizational policies
• Serve as a role model and resource to staff, fostering a positive team environment
