The Charge Nurse collaborates with inpatient units and communicates with the healthcare team to uphold safety and quality care. An RN license in NH and ED experience are required or preferred as noted.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
• Active NH RN license required.
• ACLS and PALS certification encouraged; TNCC/ENPC/CEN preferred.

Job description

The Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department is a shift leader whose role includes managing nursing resources and facilitating appropriate patient flow and care. The duties of the Charge Nurse focus primarily on throughput, capacity management, and daily operations.

Promotes and maintains the philosophy, values, standards of performance and goals of the organization and the department.Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team to maintain patient safety and achieve desired outcomes.May function as a Registered Nurse as outlined in the Registered Nurse – Emergency Care Center job description.Facilitates patient flow through the Emergency Department and collaborates with inpatient units to coordinate admitted patient flow to the inpatient units.

Associate’s degree in nursing required, bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.Five (5) years of experience in the emergency department setting as a Registered Nurse.NH RN License.ACLS, PALS.AVADE.TNCC and ENPC preferred.CEN preferred.
