Tenet Memphis is seeking a Day Surgery Charge Nurse (RN) for a nursing role in Memphis, Tennessee. This professional will oversee daily operations within the Day Surgery specialty, ensuring safe, quality patient care and adherence to hospital standards.

The Charge Nurse will coordinate staff, mentor team members, and collaborate with the Nurse Manager to maintain efficient unit performance and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Minimum 1 year RN experience required.
• RN licensure in applicable state.
• BLS certification required at hire.
• ACLS, CPI, PALS, and NRP training within 3 months where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the Day Surgery unit to ensure safe, quality patient care.
• Promote efficient operations and effective nursing care for designated departments.
• Supervise and mentor unit staff; assist with recruiting and training as needed.

Responsibilities

• The Charge Nurse is a professional nurse who manages the daily operations of a department (s) to provide services for patients while meeting quality, legal, organizational and medical staff goals.
• Responsible for promoting the efficient operations to provide effective nursing care of a designated department (s).
• Manages the department independently under the guidance of a Nurse Manager/Director.
• Assists with recruiting and training of new hires.
• Prepares assigned reports for nurse managers.
• Assists in the performance of the operational aspects of a designated unit(s) while providing mentoring and leadership support to the unit(s) staff.
• Coordinates and directs the daily patient care operations of the unit in the absence of the Nurse Manager.
• Assesses staff competencies and makes patient care assignments.
• Maintains clear communications with the Nurse Manager and House Supervisor(s) regarding unit needs and/or incidents.
• Performs related duties as required.

• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing,
• Experience: One year of RN experience required.
• Licensure/Certification:
  • RN with current applicable state licensure / permit
  • BLS - Certification required upon hire for all nursing positions.
  • ACLS - Required within 3 months of hire for the following departments:Emergency Dept & Medical Response Team RNs, ICU RN & Stepdown RNs, Med/Surg/Tele RNs, All Float Pool RNs, Same Day Surgery RNs, Operating Room RNs & PACU RNs, GI Lab RNs & Interventional Radiology RNs, Special Procedures RNs, L&D RNs, Cardiac Care RNs, Cardiac Rehab RNs & Cardiac Cath Lab RNs
  • CPI - Required within 3 months of hire for the following:Emergency Dept. RNs, All Bartlett Float Pool RNs, Memphis Float Pool RNs that will float to Behavioral Health and/or Emergency Dept., All Behavioral Health RNs
  • PALS – Required within 3 months of hire for the following: Emergency Dept., Float Pool RNs who float to the Emergency Dept.
  • NRP – Required within 3 months of hire for L&D RNs, Mother/Baby RNs and NICU RNs.

Preferred

• Education: Academic degree in nursing (Bachelors or Master's degree)
