Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.

Job Overview – Charge Nurse (RN)

Compensation: $115,000 – $125,000/year

Location: Essex County, NJ

Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office), Occasional Weekends

TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Charge Nurse (RN) in Essex County, NJ for our client, supporting clinical operations, nursing staff, and patient care within an outpatient surgical setting. This role will coordinate daily clinical activities, provide nursing leadership, and deliver direct patient care across perioperative services. The ideal candidate brings operating room experience, prior charge nursing responsibilities, and strong clinical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities as the Charge Nurse (RN):

• Clinical Coordination: Oversee daily nursing workflows, coordinate patient care activities, and support efficient clinical operations.
• Nursing Leadership: Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff, provide guidance on patient care, and support adherence to established procedures.
• Perioperative Care: Provide direct nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures, including patient preparation and recovery.
• Patient Safety: Monitor clinical practices, support infection prevention protocols, and promote compliance with patient safety standards.
• Quality Improvement: Participate in quality assurance activities, clinical audits, and initiatives to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
• Clinical Documentation: Ensure accurate patient records, appropriate documentation practices, and effective communication among healthcare teams.

Qualifications for the Charge Nurse (RN):

• Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
• Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey is required.
• Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.
• Experience: 2+ years of operating room nursing experience and prior Charge Nurse or clinical leadership experience are required, with ambulatory surgery experience preferred.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of perioperative nursing, operating room procedures, infection control, patient safety, and clinical quality standards is required, with Pre-Op and PACU experience preferred.
• Skills & Attributes: Strong clinical judgment, leadership, communication, organizational, and teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate patient care, support nursing staff, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced surgical environment are required.
