Job summary

Dept of Veterans Services seeks an RN Charge Nurse at Puller Veterans Center in Virginia to lead nursing services and supervise RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. The role directs daily nursing operations, ensures staffing, and coordinates patient care with interdisciplinary teams.

You will monitor patient health, ensure safety and documentation, and guide staff through regulatory standards and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Current Virginia RN license.
• Supervisory experience in nursing settings.
• Experience with geriatric populations.
• In-Service Education experience.
• CPR certification required on hire or obtained after starting.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate all Nursing Service activities.
• Supervise nursing staff including RNs, LPNs, CNAs.
• Assign tasks and ensure proper staffing levels.
• Provide training, coaching and mentoring to staff.
• Perform performance evaluations and assist with disciplinary actions.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee delivery of nursing care to residents ensuring professional standards.
• Review patient care plans, assessments and documentation.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and social workers to coordinate care.
• Monitor health status and respond to emergencies.
• Maintain nursing records and reporting.
