Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Charge Nurse to supervise and coordinate nursing care under the direction of the Director and Clinical Manager. You will lead nursing service activities, delegate to auxiliary and staff nurses, and ensure accurate patient records.

You will assist with bed assignments and address operational issues as they arise. The role requires maintaining inventory for solutions, supplies, medicines, and equipment, including narcotics tracking, with a focus on safe, efficient patient care

Qualifications

• RN licensure current in the hiring state or compact state
• BLS (AHA) required within 30 days of hire; additional certifications may be required based on unit (ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, OCN, CPHON, PEARS, S.T.A.B.L.E., C-EFM, or other unit-specific credentials)

Responsibilities

• Deliver efficient, safe patient care using the nursing process, hospital policies and procedures
• Direct nursing service activities in the department and delegate responsibilities to auxiliary and staff nurses
• Supervise preparation and maintenance of patient clinical records and assist with reports on staff performance and services rendered
• Assist with bed assignments and address various problems as they arise
• Maintain preset inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines, equipment, and track narcotics and medications

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN)
