Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Primary Charge Nurse to oversee unit operations during shifts, directing patient flow and ensuring optimal care delivery. You will model customer service, uphold nursing standards, and coordinate with the care team to meet patient needs.

The role requires RN licensure in IL or MI, plus BLS/ACLS; PALS where required. An associate or bachelor’s nursing degree is required within 3 years of hire, with a strong emphasis on communication and problem solving.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree in nursing or Bachelor’s degree in nursing must be obtained within 3 years of hire.
• Licensure/ Certification: Current RN licensure in IL or MI; BLS and ACLS, PALS, or other required certification by unit.
• Other Skills/ Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct the unit’s operations during the shift to meet patient and care team needs.
• Determine work priorities and prepare daily assignments; serve as a resource for unit personnel.
• Provide care at the highest level of licensure, follow standards of care, and work toward quality outcomes.
