JOB TITLE: RN, Charge Nurse ED
REPORTS TO: Director of Emergency Services
POSITION SUMMARY: Provides supervision and leadership to assigned nursing care unit for the shift worked. Is accountable for all nursing activities in assigned area which includes, but is not limited to, the effective delivery of safe, competent, compassionate and efficient care. Ensures nursing staff comply with the written policies and procedures established by VVGMC. Periodically reviews the department's policies and procedures manuals, etc. and makes recommendations for revisions. The Charge Nurse is the on the ground leader (front line person) who has the responsibility and capability to assess day-to-day situations and initiate actions needed to address issues at hand. This role has direct responsibilities that are both clinical and operational in nature. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other employees. Performs all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing preferred. BSN preferred. A minimum of one year of acute care nursing experience required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current California RN license, BLS certification, ACLS certification, and PALS certification. MAB within 90 days of hire. 5150 certification within 6 months of hire or status change. CEN preferred.
