Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse supervisor to coordinate unit operations during a shift, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient operations. The role includes oversight of RNs and non-licensed staff and collaboration across disciplines to achieve optimal outcomes.

The position requires a Texas RN license, a Bachelor’s in Nursing, and active CPR.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital-based acute care setting is required.
• Current and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.
• Current CPR training required.
• ACLS obtained within 6 months of being in the position.
• PALS obtained within 6 months of being in the position for Endoscopy, Emergency, Operating Room, Recovery and Ambulatory Surgical Unit.
• TNCC or ATCN obtained within 1 year of being in the position for Emergency, ICU, Medical Surgical ICU, Neuro ICU, and Recovery.
• ENPC obtained within 1 year of being in the position for the Emergency department.
• Obtainment of a national nursing certification in specialty area within 2 years of being in the position is required.

Maintains authority for resource allocation. Assists Nurse Manager/Director in the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing staff. Oversees the work of RNs and non-licensed members of the nursing staff. Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports the organization’s vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient’s age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
