Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years hospital, medical, or billing experience.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, medications, and CPT/HCPCS expected.
• Charge entry/capture experience and knowledge of hospital policies; McKesson experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret medical records.

Responsibilities

• Identify all chargeable ED services and supplies.
• Calculate ED E&M level.
• Identify infusion, injection, and transfusion charges per CPT guidelines.
• Enter charges, quantities, and modifiers within 72 hours of discharge.
• Maintain >97% completion rate of charges within 72 hours.
• Collaborate with Nurse Auditor on analysis for accuracy of charges.
• Assist with charge capture rebill projects and related education.
• Serve as a liaison between clinical/billing staff and reimbursement specialists.
