University Health invites applicants for a Chaplain Residency designed to complete three units of Clinical Pastoral Education while building capability in addressing the spiritual, emotional, and relational needs of patients, loved ones, and hospital staff.

Qualifications

• Care background with working knowledge of theology, spirituality, sacred writings, and human behavior to engage in spiritual care encounters.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to be detail oriented and to multi-task/prioritize work.
• Completion of one unit of ACPE CPE or equivalent.
• Ordination or authorization for spiritual care in the candidate’s faith/orienting system.
• Written endorsement or a letter from their faith/orienting system demonstrating good standing.

The Chaplain Residency is designed to complete three (3) units of Clinical Pastoral Education while providing and developing competency in addressing the spiritual, emotional and relational health needs of patients, their loved ones, and the hospital staff.

Exhibits empathy, interpersonal skills and analytical ability to assess spiritual needs and to provide assistance in complex moral, spiritual and ethical matters.

What you need

Care background with a basic working knowledge of theology, cosmology, spirituality, interpretation of sacred writings, human behavior and spiritual care skills to allow engagement in spiritual care encounters from which to develop increased skill and competence as a spiritual care provider.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to be detail oriented and to multi-task/prioritize work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Divinity or related field preferred.
• Completion of one unit of Association of Clinical Pastoral Education CPE or equivalent.
• Ordination or authorization for spiritual care in the candidate’s faith/orienting system.
• Written endorsement or a letter from their faith/orienting system demonstrating good standing.
