Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a chaplain to provide proactive spiritual and emotional care to patients, families, and staff in a hospital setting. You will visit units, respond to referrals, and participate in interdisciplinary teams, address ethical issues, and support families and clergy with sensitivity.

The role requires ACPE-CPE certification, a Master’s in Theology preferred, and 3+ years pastoral experience preferred. Per diem availability and on-call coverage are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive spiritual and emotional care to patients, families, and staff regardless of faith tradition or belief system.
  • Make regular visits to assigned RRH patient units.
  • Respond to referrals from medical, nursing, social work, and support staff.
  • Respond to family requests for spiritual and emotional support.
  • Attend interdisciplinary care-team meetings.
  • Address ethical issues involving patients, families, and staff.
  • Assist patients’ own clergy, including notifying clergy of hospitalization with permission.
  • Serve on hospital committees and task forces as requested.
  • Lead in-service presentations on relevant issues.
  • Relay problems and concerns to leadership.
  • Provide overnight and weekend on-call coverage as needed.

Requirements
  • One unit of ACPE-CPE required
  • Clinical Pastoral Education unit must be verifiable from the ACPE (Association of Clinical Pastoral Education)
  • Strong analytical, computer, and communication skills
  • Master’s level degree in Theology preferred
  • Three years satisfactory pastoral experience preferred
  • Ability to work per diem/as needed, including weekday or weekend day shifts, urgent call-ins, Sunday church services, and overnight/weekend on-call coverage as needed
