Job summary

Atlantic Health System seeks a Chaplain for Full-Time Palliative Care at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ. The role provides spiritual care to patients, families, and staff, and coordinates interfaith services while supporting crisis and bereavement needs.

Requires a Master’s in Theology or related field, four ACPE‑accredited CPE units, and board certification, with collaboration across hospital teams to meet spiritual care goals and ethical concerns.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Theology or related field.
• Completion of minimum four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education.
• Experience working as a Staff Chaplain.
• Board certification by National Accrediting Body.

Responsibilities

• Assists families in crisis and responds to on-call needs and provides clinical presence with patients/families.
• Coordinates religious holiday observances and conducts special events and interfaith services.
• Participates as an active member of hospital, corporate, community, and interdisciplinary committees.
• Creates and sustains an advanced level of staff and patient awareness.
• Develops and implements strategies to achieve innovative goals.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
