Job description: A medical team clinician specializing in helping patients, families, residents and staff access their spiritual resources to facilitate healing and/or end-of-life adaptive transitions. Assesses, plans, and delivers care in spiritual arenas and facilitates spiritual resources in Hospice/Home Health populations. Represents the organization in system wide committees as assigned. Responds to urgent situations (codes, deaths, extreme duress), referrals, and day to day rounding. May support other internal departmental or facility programs or extended community needs in accord with the organizations mission. Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.

Qualifications

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • Valid Drivers License required
  • Bachelor's degree In spiritual care, theologically related field, or equivalent degree from college, university or institution accredited/recognized by the applicant’s institutional faith body. Completion of Roman Catholic diaconate formation with ordination is an acceptable equivalent for a bachelor’s degree, required.
  • Master's degree in Completion of Roman Catholic diaconate formation with ordination is an acceptable equivalent for an MDiv if candidate has a bachelor’s degree, preferred.
  • 2 completed units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) required. Candidate may be hired with fewer units, but must complete 2 units within one year (12 months) of hire date. Units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) must be from a nationally recognized accrediting agency listed by the U.S. Department of Education, or an internal Mountain Div. CPE program aligned with the competencies of an accrediting agency per above.
  • 30 documented clock hours total of specialized training in end-of-life, palliative care, grief recovery, or related fields, required. Candidate may be hired with fewer hours if the 30 hours are completed within one year (12 months) of hire date. These specialized training hours must be from a nationally recognized organization focusing the care of hospice, home health, or senior living. Possible examples might include: Grief Recovery Institute, NHPCO, HFA, Center for Loss and Life Transition, and the American Academy of Bereavement (AAB).
  • 30 hours per CY of continuing education in chaplaincy related topics are required on an annual basis, except when enrolled in CPE, completing a master’s program, engaged in RCC diaconate formation, or preparing for Board Certified Chaplain (BCC or equivalent) credentialing or RCC ordination. (cf. Mountain Division ICCE guidelines)
