SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : Chaplains provide spiritual support to patients and their families, including prayer, life review, life resolution and connect them to spiritual care resources in the community. The chaplains are responsible for developing relationships with community clergy and for connecting patients and families back to their churches and pastors and assist patients and/or families with funeral planning, conducting funerals and/or memorial services.
Chaplains assess a patient’s spiritual world view assisting the patient in naming their spiritual distress, recognizing their spiritual resources, and utilizing those resources for renewed meaning, purpose, and value in the complexities of illness and loss.
