Job summary

Geisinger Wyoming Valley seeks a Chaplain to provide compassionate spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and healthcare teams in a clinical setting. The role involves per diem, flexible hours, and participation in an interdisciplinary care approach.

Requirements include a Master's degree in a related field and four units of Clinical Pastoral Education, with ordination or endorsement and eventual board certification within three years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and support meetings as appropriate.
• Assess patients, families, and caregivers for spiritual needs in consultation with the team.
• Provide direct chaplaincy services to patients, families, and caregivers of diverse religious perspectives.
• Consult with patient’s clergy and advise on admission when requested.
• Document visits and calls in the EMR within a timely frame.
• Provide counseling and support to team members.
• Assist with training programs and in-service education.

Job Summary

Offers spiritual and emotional support directly to patients and their families, caregivers, and team members. Responsible for assisting with organization of daily activities as assigned.

Job Duties

• Functions as a member of the team by attending interdisciplinary team conference, support meetings, and other meetings as appropriate
• Assesses each patient, family member, and caregiver for spiritual needs and concerns in consultation with other team members
• Provides direct chaplaincy services (when accepted) to patients, family members, and caregivers of different philosophies and religious perspectives
• Consults, if requested by patient or family, the patient's clergy of choice and advises them on admission
• Documents all visits and phone calls in the electronic medical record within an appropriate time frame
• Provides consultation, counsel, and support to other team members as appropriate
• Assists with training programs and in-service education as requested

Hours: This is a Flex position (per diem, hours as needed). Non-benefits eligible.

Hours will vary based on department staffing needs

Required Experience: Master's Degree in Divinity, Theology, Ministry, or a related field.

Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education Required

Ordination, Commissioning, or Ecclesiastical Endorsement from a recognized religious organization.

Board Certified Chaplain (Association of Professional Chaplains) within three years of hire.
