Job summary

Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Wilkes-Barre, PA seeks a Chaplain Associate to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare teams within an interdisciplinary setting. This per diem position offers flexible hours, no benefits eligibility, and participation in interdisciplinary conferences and training.

Required: High School Diploma or GED, 1 unit CPE, ordination or ecclesiastical endorsement.

• Provides consultation and support to other team members.

Job Summary

Offers spiritual and emotional support directly to patients and their families, caregivers, and team members. Responsible for assisting with organization of daily activities as assigned.

Job Duties

• Functions as a member of the team by attending interdisciplinary team conference, support meetings, and other meetings as appropriate
• Assesses each patient, family member, and caregiver for spiritual needs and concerns in consultation with other team members
• Provides direct chaplaincy services (when accepted) to patients, family members, and caregivers of different philosophies and religious perspectives
• Consults, if requested by patient or family, the patient’s clergy of choice and advises them on admission
• Documents all visits and phone calls in the electronic medical record within an appropriate time frame
• Provides consultation, counsel, and support to other team members as appropriate
• Assists with training programs and in-service education as requested

• Hours: This is a Flex position (per diem, hours as needed). Non-benefits eligible.
• Hours will vary based on department staffing needs
• Required Experience: High School Diploma or GED
• 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education Required
• Ordination/ Commissioning or Ecclesiastical Endorsement
