Job summary

The Legacy at North Augusta, part of National Lutheran Communities & Services, seeks a Full-Time Chaplain to provide spiritual care and pastoral guidance to residents, families, and staff in Staunton, VA. The role emphasizes compassion, inclusivity, and mission-driven service within a premier senior living community.

Responsibilities include leading worship, offering counseling, and coordinating faith-based programs across healthcare, assisted living, memory care, and independent living

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Theology, Divinity, Ministry, Pastoral Care, or related field required.
• Master's degree in Divinity or related advanced theological degree preferred.
• Ordination, endorsement, or recognized standing within a faith tradition preferred.
• Previous chaplaincy/pastoral ministry experience in healthcare or senior living preferred.
• Ability to read and speak English; strong communication and empathy.

• Provide spiritual counseling, pastoral care, and emotional support to residents, families, and staff.
• Lead worship services, prayer gatherings, memorial services, and faith-based programs.
• Support residents of diverse faith backgrounds with respect and inclusivity.
• Visit residents in healthcare, assisted living, memory support, and independent living settings.
• Offer comfort during illness, transition, grief, or end-of-life care.
• Coordinate and support volunteer spiritual care partners and community clergy.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote holistic well-being.
• Assist families during life transitions and provide bereavement support.
• Support the community's mission, values, and resident experiences.

Chaplain

The Legacy at North Augusta, a premier senior living community and part of National Lutheran Communities & Services, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Full-Time Chaplain to provide spiritual care, emotional support, and pastoral guidance to residents, families, and team members.

Salary Range: $53,000 - $70,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

What You’ll Do

As Chaplain, you will foster a culture of spiritual wellness and provide person-centered pastoral care throughout the community by:

• Providing spiritual counseling, pastoral care, and emotional support to residents, families, and staff.
• Leading worship services, prayer gatherings, memorial services, and other faith-based programs.
• Supporting residents of all faith traditions with respect, dignity, and inclusivity.
• Visiting residents in healthcare, assisted living, memory support, and independent living settings.
• Offering comfort and guidance during times of illness, transition, grief, or end-of-life care.
• Coordinating and supporting volunteer spiritual care partners and community clergy.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to promote residents' holistic well-being.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Theology, Divinity, Ministry, Pastoral Care, or a related field required.
• Master's degree in Divinity (M.Div.) or related advanced theological degree preferred.
• Ordination, endorsement, or recognized standing within a faith tradition preferred.
• Previous experience in chaplaincy, pastoral ministry, healthcare, senior living, hospice, or related settings preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
• Ability to provide spiritual support to individuals from diverse faith backgrounds.
• Demonstrated compassion, empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and build trusting relationships.
• Ability to read and speak English.
