Job description

Scenic Living Communities is seeking a Chaplain who provides compassionate spiritual care and emotional support to residents and families while fostering a welcoming environment that respects individuals of all faith backgrounds and beliefs. This position develops meaningful relationships through regular pastoral visits, including one-on-one visits with residents, leads worship services and faith-based programming, offers support during times of illness, grief, and end-of-life care, and partners with community faith organizations to enhance residents' spiritual well-being.

Desired Qualifications:

The Chaplain must be an Ordained Minister, Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Master of Arts in Theology, or obtain a Chaplain Certification. Clinical training in an approved geriatric counseling program is preferred, as is pastoral experience in a senior living, long-term care, or other congregate living setting. Previous experience in parish ministry, hospital chaplaincy, mission work, or parachurch ministry is also preferred.

Duties:

Plan, coordinate, and lead weekly non-denominational worship services, Bible studies, seasonal worship experiences, and other faith-based programs, adapting services to meet residents' cognitive and physical abilities. Conduct regular one-on-one pastoral visits with residents across all levels of care to provide individualized spiritual support, encouragement, and companionship. Provide spiritual support to residents and their families during illness, hospitalization, bereavement, crises, and other significant life events, including hospital visitation and officiating memorial services as requested. Foster relationships with local churches, clergy, faith-based organizations, and volunteer ministries to expand spiritual care opportunities and connect residents with religious resources of their choosing. Ensure that religious and spiritual needs of residents/tenants are met. Protect and promote resident rights by honoring each individual's choice of faith tradition or non-religious beliefs and ensuring all spiritual services are welcoming, respectful, and free from coercion. Maintain accurate records of chaplain visits, worship attendance, and spiritual programming; coordinate worship schedules and materials; attend required meetings and education; and perform other duties as assigned.
