Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida seeks a Chaplain to deliver spiritual care, religious practices, and grief support for patients, families, visitors, and staff. The role includes spiritual assessments, counseling, rites, and crisis intervention, in partnership with a multidisciplinary team.

The Chaplain will coordinate with faith groups, provide afterhours coverage as needed, and support end-of-life discussions in alignment with the center's mission and values.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience as a chaplain in a healthcare setting (hospital, hospice, long-term care, etc.).
• Understanding of diverse populations.
• One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from an ACPE-accredited facility; four units preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual care, religious practices, and grief support to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Conduct spiritual assessments and counseling; perform rites and rituals.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
• Refer to faith leaders and resources in the community as needed; advocate for patients' spiritual needs.
• Possible after-hours coverage, including holidays and weekends.

These responsibilities include spiritual assessments and counseling, religious rites and rituals, grief and bereavement work, and crisis intervention. The CHAPLAIN facilitates continuity of spiritual care through timely communication, advocacy, and initiating referrals to faith group leaders in the local community as needed; collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes. The CHAPLAIN acts as a resource/specialist for spiritual and religious care surrounding illness, ethics, and end-of-life; and presents on these topics to patients, families, and volunteer groups within the hospital. The CHAPLAIN is knowledgeable on world religions, humanism, and palliative care practices relative to healthcare and end-of-life; and represents and supports the mission, philosophy, and goals of the Cancer Center. The CHAPLAIN may at times provide on-call coverage afterhours, on holidays and weekends, or as scheduled or needed.Minimum Experience RequiredTwo years' experience as a chaplain in a healthcare setting such as, but not limited to: hospital, hospice, long-term care facility, religious institution, center of worship.Evidence of understanding of diverse populations.Minimum Skills/Specialized Training RequiredA current/active ordination, endorsement, or validation for ministry from a faith group.
