Job summary

Reading Hospital, part of Tower Health, invites applications for a Chaplain in the Department of Chaplaincy Services. The chaplain provides spiritual care and support to staff, patients, and families in accordance with established policy and protocol.

The role requires collaboration with clinical staff to assess needs, respect cultural diversity, and coordinate with the patient’s religious leaders when permitted. A unit of CPE is required.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree required or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • Relevant Experience in chaplaincy or spiritual care.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, listening, multitasking, negotiation, and service orientation skills.
  • Ability to work well in a healthcare setting and be a strong team player.

Responsibilities

  • Provide spiritual care and support to staff, patients, and families according to established policy and protocol.
  • Assess spiritual, religious and cultural needs of patients and families and plan care respectful of diversity.
  • Coordinate care with patient or family religious leaders when permission is given.

Job Summary


  • A Chaplain in the Department of Chaplaincy Services provides spiritual care and support to staff, patients, and their families according to established policy and protocol.

  • A Chaplain works in concert with other clinical staff to assess the spiritual, religious and cultural needs of patients and their families and plan and provide care respectful of religious and cultural diversity.

  • A Chaplain involves and coordinates care with the patient or family's religious leader when permission to do so is given.

  • Chaplains work to interpret and fulfill the Hospital's mission to provide compassionate, high-quality care.

  • Chaplains must complete one unit of CPE.
