Job summary

CHI Health Immanuel in North Omaha, NE seeks a Chaplain to provide direct spiritual care to patients, families, and staff, offering compassionate presence and prayers during crises or grief. You will collaborate with the healthcare team to advocate for spiritual needs and respect diverse beliefs.

You will conduct spiritual assessments, develop care plans, and coordinate with the care team, while mentoring CPE Residents and Interns and responding to referrals in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required at hire
• Master's degree and 3–5 years pastoral ministry experience under supervision
• Board Certified Chaplain (APC) at hire or
• Supervisor of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) certification at hire
• Catholic Chaplain at hire or
• Certified Childbirth Educator - ACBE at hire

Responsibilities

• Provides pastoral/spiritual care to patients, families, and staff.
• Completes spiritual assessments and develops plans of care; communicates with care team; documents as required.
• Provides site orientation, mentoring, and support to CPE Residents and Interns.
• Responds to routine and emergency referrals promptly.
• Coordinates with local religious communities to meet spiritual needs.
• Coordinates bereavement care for end of life and at death.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Chaplain, you will serve as a vital spiritual leader and compassionate caregiver within our hospital community, providing essential spiritual counseling and support to patients, families, and staff. Every day, you will provide direct spiritual, religious, and existential care, offering compassionate presence, support, and appropriate rituals to patients, families, and staff, especially during times of crisis or grief. You will collaborate with the healthcare team to advocate for spiritual needs and integrate holistic care, ensuring respect for diverse beliefs. To be successful in this role, you must be a highly compassionate individual, comfortable and skilled in engaging with people who may be emotional, panicked, stressed, or in pain. You'll need the proven ability to provide empathetic care, adapt to diverse spiritual needs, and communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Provides pastoral/spiritual care to patients, loved ones, and staff.
• Completes spiritual assessments and develops plans of care. Communicates with other care team members. Provides clinical documentation as required.
• Provides site orientation, mentoring, and support to CPE Residents and Interns as assigned.
• Responds to and initiates routine and emergency referrals in a timely manner.
• Coordinates with the local religious community to ensure the patient’s/loved ones spiritual and/or sacramental needs are met.
• Coordinates spiritual/pastoral ministry and bereavement care for those approaching end of life and at death.

Pay Range
