Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent professional experience.
  • Master's degree in theology or related field preferred.
  • Board Certification as Chaplain APC or BCC preferred.
  • Catholic Chaplain certification considered.
  • Supervisory experience in CPE preferred.
  • ACBE childbirth educator certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides pastoral/spiritual care to patients, families, and staff.
  • Completes spiritual assessments and develops care plans; documents as required.
  • Offers site orientation and mentoring to CPE Residents and Interns.
  • Responds to routine and emergency referrals in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with local religious communities to meet patient spiritual needs.
  • Coordinates spiritual/pastoral ministry and bereavement care at end of life.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Chaplain, you will serve as a vital spiritual leader and compassionate caregiver within our hospital community, providing essential spiritual counseling and support to patients, families, and staff.

Every day, you will provide direct spiritual, religious, and existential care, offering compassionate presence, support, and appropriate rituals to patients, families, and staff, especially during times of crisis or grief. You will collaborate with the healthcare team to advocate for spiritual needs and integrate holistic care, ensuring respect for diverse beliefs.

To be successful in this role, you must be a highly compassionate individual, comfortable and skilled in engaging with people who may be emotional, panicked, stressed, or in pain. You'll need the proven ability to provide empathetic care, adapt to diverse spiritual needs, and communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Provides pastoral/spiritual care to patients, loved ones, and staff.
  • Completes spiritual assessments and develops plans of care. Communicates with other care team members. Provides clinical documentation as required.
  • Provides site orientation, mentoring, and support to CPE Residents and Interns as assigned.
  • Responds to and initiates routine and emergency referrals in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with the local religious community to ensure the patient’s/loved ones spiritual and/or sacramental needs are met.
  • Coordinates spiritual/pastoral ministry and bereavement care for those approaching end of life and at death.
Job Requirements

Preferred

  • Bachelors Other, upon hire and
  • Masters Other and Three to five years of pastoral ministry or related experience under institutional supervision, upon hire
  • Board Certified Chaplain APC, upon hire or
  • Certified Supervisor of Clinical Pastoral Education, upon hire or
  • Board Certified Chaplain BCC, upon hire or
  • Catholic Chaplain, upon hire or
  • Certified Childbirth Educator - ACBE, upon hire
