Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) seeks a licensed minister or religious leader to oversee the facility's religious programs, coordinate external activities, recruit and schedule volunteers, and conduct religious services and education programs. You will provide chaplaincy rounds and counseling to detainees, engage with them in daily activities, and respond to emergencies.

Regular onsite attendance is required, with long walking and standing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Accreditation as a minister or religious leader.
• Two years of related experience.
• US citizenship or lawful US permanent resident.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Preservice training post-hire.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage all religious programs of the facility.
• Serve as the point of contact for outside religious activities requesting admittance.
• Coordinate religious volunteers and provide schedules.
• Conduct religious services and education programs and schedule special programs.
• Provide chaplaincy visitation rounds to detainees, including critically ill.
• Counsel detainees on religious problems, personal issues, crisis intervention, grief, and adjustment.
• Interact with detainees during daily activities to provide moral and religious instruction.
• Regular rounds of the facility; long periods of walking and standing.
• Onsite attendance is required; respond to emergencies requiring chaplain support.

What You Will Do

• Create and manage all religious programs of the facility.
• Serve as the point of contact for all outside religious activities, people or groups requesting admittance to the facility.
• Coordinate religious volunteers and provide volunteers with schedules.
• Conduct religious services and religious education programs and schedule periodic special programs.
• Provide regular chaplaincy visitation rounds to new and existing detainees and detainees who are critically ill.
• Counsel detainees on religious problems, personal issues, crisis intervention, grief and institutional adjustment.
• Interact with detainees during their daily activities (e.g., dining, recreation, work and while in detention or disciplinary isolation) as often as possible to provide moral and religious instruction.
• Required to make regular rounds of the facility which requires long periods of walking and standing.
• Regular and predictable onsite attendance is required.
• Required to respond to emergencies requiring the assistance of the chaplain.
