Job summary

Brighton/Suncrest Hospice in Colorado seeks a Chaplain to provide spiritual care to patients and families within an interfaith team. The role emphasizes collaboration with interdisciplinary colleagues, compassionate listening, and timely delivery of spiritual services.

The Chaplain will support funerals, caregiver education, and community liaison activities while maintaining meticulous records and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Certificate/degree in theology or pastoral care required.
  • One year of chaplain experience preferred.
  • Experience with death and the dying; supporting families.
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Comfort level in inter-faith setting.
  • MDiv or Masters in Theology required.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses spiritual needs of patients and families/caregivers in the hospice program and ensures that appropriate services are rendered in a timely manner.
  • Serves as liaison and support to community chaplains and spiritual counselors.
  • Maintains accurate records of spiritual care services utilization and related activities for quality assurance, program development, and policies and procedures review and revision.
  • Attends patient care conferences and interdisciplinary group meetings, providing consultation, education, and support.
  • Provides for funeral or memorial services for patients as requested.
  • Assists with the supervision of spiritual care volunteers when assigned to patients/families/caregivers.
  • Actively participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.
  • Must be willing to drive with reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance.

The Chaplain provides spiritual support, guidance, and resources to patients and their families. They provide compassionate services to a diverse population encompassing all faiths that are represented by patients, families, and team members, while at the same time, reflecting the mission and philosophy of Suncrest.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv or equivalent theological degree), or a degree in pastoral care, or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred
  • One year of chaplain experience preferred

  • Ability to work as a contributing member of interdisciplinary group
  • Comfort level in inter-faith setting
  • Minimum of 3 units of CPE; and MDiv or Masters in Theology required.
