Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires a Master of Divinity or related field and 2,080 hours of clinical chaplaincy experience.
• ACPE/USCCB/CCA approved CPE units required upon hire (4 units).
• Board Certification as Chaplain APC required upon hire.
• Possible credentialing as Supervisor of CPE upon hire.
• Board Certification as Chaplain BCC required upon hire.
• Catholic Chaplain credential required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct spiritual, religious, and existential care to patients, families, and staff.
• Develop and implement spiritual care plans and crisis interventions.
• Offer counseling and religious/spiritual rituals as part of holistic care.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to address spiritual needs.
• Document assessments and interventions in the Electronic Medical Record.
• Cover on-call and holiday shifts as scheduled by the department.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Chaplain, you will serve as a vital spiritual leader and compassionate caregiver within our hospital community, providing essential spiritual counseling and support to patients, families, and staff.

Every day, you will provide direct spiritual, religious, and existential care, offering compassionate presence, support, and appropriate rituals to patients, families, and staff, especially during times of crisis or grief. You will collaborate with the healthcare team to advocate for spiritual needs and integrate holistic care, ensuring respect for diverse beliefs.

To be successful in this role, you must be a highly compassionate individual, comfortable and skilled in engaging with people who may be emotional, panicked, stressed, or in pain. You’ll need the proven ability to provide empathetic care, adapt to diverse spiritual needs, and communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Works collaboratively with members of the spiritual care department to build a cohesive, spiritually grounded and mutually formative team; covers on-call and holiday shifts as scheduled based on department need
• Establishes mutually respectful working relationships with staff and physicians from a variety of departments
• Gathers and evaluates relevant information pertinent to the holistic care of patients and their families
• Develops and implements spiritual care plans to promote the well-being of patients, including but not limited to crisis intervention, spiritual care and counseling, assistance with religious/spiritual rituals
• Provides spiritual care and counseling for patients and their families in response to referrals and through proactive rounding
• Documents assessments and interventions in the Electronic Medical Record

Job Requirements

• Masters Other n Divinity, Theology, or related field and 2,080 hours experience in clinical chaplaincy, upon hire and
• Minimum of four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from a program accredited by ACPE or USCCB/CCA, upon hire
• Board Certified Chaplain APC, upon hire or
• Certified Supervisor of Clinical Pastoral Education, upon hire or
• Board Certified Chaplain BCC, upon hire or
• Catholic Chaplain, upon hire

Pay Range

$22.51 – $31.79 /hour
